Started playing Final Fantasy 6 on housemate’s xbox-emulator thing. Learned it takes 60 hours. Now not sure what to do; certainly won’t finish before I leave. Continue to play, and should I ever want to continue, have to replay everything? Or start a game I don’t mind not finishing?

In 4 weeks I leave San Francisco. The office jokes about chaining me to my desk; they will sorely miss the additional manpower. I can’t decide if I want to leave or not. School will be fun, back with friends, but also I have to figure out Thesis, which I am sort of dreading.

September will mark the start of my 6th year. In June I’ll graduate. What am I supposed to do then? This weekend, I found myself looking up information on the Peace Corp and doing an internship with the international program I went on to Copenhagen—one of my friends from there is currently working there, and one of my coworkers had that position before. Both options are ways of delaying the inevitable. I don’t think I want a “real job.” I like my internship a lot, but I think if I knew that I would be continuing there for months/years, it would take on a different character.

I’ve moved around so often the past 5 years; will it be nice to settle down in one place (and which place)? Or will I get antsy after 7 months?

For the first time ever, I can’t envision what I’ll be doing in a year.

My mom visited this weekend.

Saturday afternoon, she says “you know, what I haven’t seen enough of are gay couples. I wanted to see couples just out and about.”

“Well, we could go to the Castro if you want?”

So we did. We later saw a gay couple holding hands at a museum, and a guy kissing another guy on the cheek outside a townhouse. I think she liked seeing it being no big deal, liked knowing I was in a city where I could do that without worry.

“Earl” and I had coffee tonight, and had a good talk. We are essentially on the same page after all. I’m leaving in 4 weeks, obviously I’m not looking for marriage.

As it turns out, we’ve sort of Benjamin Buttoned the thing. Started out at the um, climax, and dated our way towards friendship. Successful! All I wanted was someone to hang out with anyway. A friend to see Toy Story with; my purpose for this whole months-long endeavor!

On the train home, a girl was eating a baby carrot, from the side. Like a tiny corn on the cob! ...
