I want it to be daytime more. One of the things I like so much about my time in Denmark 2 summers ago was that in never became truly “night.” At the darkest, the sky would be a dark purple, and only for the briefest of time. It was perfect.

I suppose the dark days of winter are over, but it’s not enough. The sun should be up at 5am, and set after 9pm, all year.

Huh. That “lie down to think” idea suddenly became “sleep for 3 hours.” ...

Huh. That “lie down to think” idea suddenly became “sleep for 3 hours.” Napping is a very rare thing for me, usually only possible under extreme sleep-deprived situations. (I need a prescription drug to sleep every night, it’s complicated.)

Now it’s 4:15. I guess I should get some work done.

Parma State Of Mind

So the video is funny and well-made, but then there is this comment:

The film shows the gray, dismal weather and depict the wintry streets in similar fashion. The architecture shown is nondescript dwellings and storefronts, whereas the very “churches on every corner” are actually better indications of the true material (and moreover spiritual) culture of the town. Many of these, replete with stone, brick, & onion domes, are quite beautiful to see and explore. They represent the myriad of ethnicities in the town.

Which leads to this point: the people in Parma are from many cultures: eastern European, Russian, Italian, German…many others. Entering a bar in Parma, one is beset with strong young men and breathtakingly beautiful women, descendants of those who made Cleveland…the steelworkers and the factory workers and the hardworking trades folk. Good, solid stock.

That’s the Spirit of the people of Parma, as I see it.

Well, turns out I know less about electronics than I should/this project is more complicated than I thought.

All I know is that this lightbulb isn’t turning on. There are dozens of things that could be making it not work, and I have no clue which it might be, and it of course could be several things…

Jonesy suggested I recast it as “a conceptual journey, where modern man struggles to rebuild his surroundings after realizing he has no idea how most modern inventions work.” He referenced this windmill kid, and, interestingly, the first thing I made for this class, I titled “Quixote.”

So I might pull off a project yet.

You have no idea how excited tons of LEGO fans were when they saw this set. The helmets are all new, a boon to anyone who builds military stuff. Oddly, green is not a common color in sets, so the jeep has hard-to-find pieces. So yeah, not redundant, actually cool.

I thought about making some sort of graphic, per Anon’s suggestion (that my face is a mix of Down Syndrome and Shrek) but realized that having an image of someone with Down Syndrome next to Shrek would really just be cruel and disrespectful to people with Down Syndrome, and not funny.

Anyway I took this photo, it would have been after the equals sign in the hypothetical graphic.
