I guess this is bad for people that have names that other people have too?  Is that the issue?

I’m reasonably sure that I’m the only person ever to have my name.  If not ever, at least in the post-internet era.  At least, I hope so, because any other me’s out there will have a week’s head start to claim my name (…, claim my name, if no one is around you…)
