February 2008
It turns out that independent of my decision to accept a co-op position at a firm in Chicago, my brother has been silently considering plans to move to Chicago from his home in the family basement to further pursue his non-career of non-professional poker playing. This is pretty cool, cause now we can get a kickass 2 bedroom apartment in Chicago.  For the past few days we’ve been looking on...

I took videos of all the bridges breaking, but they turned out poorly, and here’s why. Last year I went into the shop, forgetting that my camera was in my pocket.  I was working with MDF that day, and the tiny tiny particles got all over my body, into my pockets, and into my camera.  Some got within the lense mechanism, so now there are these spots whenever I take pics.  It’s not...

So much happened today, it’ll be a few days before I write it all up.  At which point it will likely no longer be relevant, so I’ll not write about it after all.

Parties
Coming up this weekend will be the first DAAP-ish party hosted by a house I currently live in.  By “DAAP-ish” I suppose I really mean “themed”. And it seems that the prevelance of themed parties is somewhat exclusive to my class. I’m not sure how it started (I think a “Black and White” party in the fall of 06 was amongst the first, also an “Anything...

I just realized that I haven’t had dinner yet (10 PM).  So far today I’ve had a bowl of cereal.  I also don’t have any food at the house.

To Do List
1. Buy padlock for door to room 2. Find out where one can buy those glowy sticks that they sell on the Fourth of July and also ravers use.  Then, buy some. 3. Print out amazing pictures of robots and/or the future. 4. Look forward to the weekend.  Despite “Robot Rock” being an inferior title to “Robots & Technocrats” or “In the Year 2525” 5. Spend time...

Reminds me of a setting in The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall. An underground labyrinth made entirely of books and papers. Included domed rooms constructed in an igloo manner.

NBC Cincinnati ad for coverage of tuesday’s democratic debate in Cleveland, calls the event “The Debate on the Lake” Reference to “mistake on the lake”?  Should clevelanders be insulted?  Or are they (we?) to the stage of laughing at past mishaps?  Either way, is it responsible journalism to reference an idiomatic insult about a major city in an advertisement?

On the other hand, Bill Hader does an amazing and hilarious Daniel Day Lewis as Daniel Plainview.

Fred Armisen doesn’t do a very good Obama.

In keeping with the “tumblr” and “flickr” naming pattern, perhaps this should be called “fauct”.  But that sounds a lot like “Faust”, which might not be what I’m going for… Is Satan still offering unlimited power for eternal soul deals?  Or has he gone to the nighttime and weekend power only plan?

The question I ask is, will “sustainability” aka “green design” amount to anything?  Will it actually have any impact on the environment, or is it way too far gone for passive heating and cross ventilation to matter? My guess is its too far gone.  Time to move north and convert to feudal agrarianism.

The best architecture is drawn on broken mirrors with old lipstick. It’s sketched in blood on prison walls.  It’s built out of bones and driftwood and tin cans. It comes from a future that will never happen.
